Sylhet | Madan Mohan College
The Madan Mohan College was established on 26th January, 1940 by renowned philanthropists of Sylhet town late Mohini Mohan Das and Jugendra Mohan Das in memory of their father late Madan Mohan Das. They built up the college in their own donated land at Lamabazar, Sylhet. The area of the land was .295 acre. In addition to that they donated a cash amount of Rupee Twelve thousand. At present the college has 3.53 acres of land in total. Over the years, the college has been funded by many philanthropists, educationists, renowned personalities and also by the government and non-government organizations. To mention some of them are the then Sylhet Municipality Zilla parishad, Daud Foundation, District administration. Among the personal contributes mention may be made of late Roy Bahadur Promud Chandra Datta, Late Roy Bahadur Baikuntanath Bhattacharjee, Ex-Minister Late Basanta Kumar Das, Mr. Bimalandu Das (Sadhu Babu). Later on Mr. A.N.M Yusuf, Ex-minister A.M.A Muhit, Ex-Dist Administrator Mohammed Foyzullah, Industrialist Ragib Ali, Ismail Azad came forward for infrastructural development. And in the recent past Ex-Finance Minister Mr. M. Saifur Rahman has set up a milestone to the development of the college. By dint of his own accord, Mr. Saifur Rahman sanctioned about BD Taka 6 core for the infrastructural development.
At present the institution is a full-fledged Degree and Master’s level college since its inception the college has been famous for Business Studies (Commerce) discipline. .
